Bulldog girls basketball smothers Calvary Christian

ADA__The Ada High School girls basketball team ran out to a 29-0 halftime lead and dominated visiting Calvary Christian 43-4 to punctuate Senior Night on Tuesday, February 3.
The Bulldog girls led 13-0 after the first period as Lucy Carter nailed the game’s only triple and scored five points.
Ada extended the shutout to 16 minutes with a 16-0 second stanza. CC finally got on the scoreboard with four points on two baskets in the third quarter.
The Bulldogs then shut the visitors out again 8-0 in the final stanza to win by 39.
Ada senior Ashley Hevlin scored a season-high 12 points to pace the Bulldog offense.
The Bulldogs improved to 11-9 overall after the lopsided home victory. Ada outscored the Spartans 37-0 in the first, second and fourth periods combined.
CC dropped to 2-13 with the road defeat.
“It was nice to get a win on Senior Night in Anna (Conley) and Ashley’s final home game,” said Ada head coach Zach Ricker.
Hevlin sank three second-quarter baskets as five Bulldogs scored from the field. CC battled through a 6-4 third period.
Freshman Carter tallied nine markers as eight Ada players scored. Senior Anna Conley and freshman Te’a Griffith each contributed six markers.
Freshman Shay Smith added four points.
Neither team made a free throw in the contest. Ada was whistled for only one foul. It was by far the lowest offensive output by a Bulldog opponent this season.
The Bulldog girls connected on 20 two-point goals, buried one triple and missed both of their foul shots (0 percent).
The Spartans canned two two-pointers, and had no treys. They did not attempt a free throw.
The Bulldog girls finished the season 6-6 at home with the victory.
Having won three games in a row, Ada visits league foe Pandora-Gilboa (10-9, 4-3 BVC) on Thursday, Feb. 5. The Rocket girls are fourth in the 11-team league, while Ada is seventh at 3-6.
Liberty-Benton is first in the BVC at 8-0, with Riverdale second (7-1).
