Bulldog baseball loss vs. Delphos Jefferson

ADA__The Ada High School baseball team suffered one bad inning and lost 6-4 to visiting non-conference rival Delphos Jefferson on Tuesday, April 28.
The Wildcats scored five runs in the top of the third inning to break a scoreless tie.
The Bulldogs crept back into contention with single runs in the fourth and fifth frames. DJ tacked on an insurance run in the sixth to lead 6-2.
Ada plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but their rally fell short.
Ada dropped to 6-9 overall after the home defeat. Former NWC foe Delphos Jeff improved to 3-9 with the road win.
“The kids never gave up,” said Ada head coach Toby Smith. “We just have to eliminate the big inning on defense.”
The Bulldogs were out-hit by DJ 8-6 as the Wildcats smacked four doubles. Ada committed one error, while the Wildcats made no miscues.
Bulldog starting pitcher Brody Rister went 2.3 innings and allowed five earned runs. He walked three and struck out one. He contributed one run batted in.
Wes Mowery hurled two innings of scoreless, two-hit relief. He walked six and struck out two. He also led the offense with a double, one single, a run, one walk and a run batted in.
Mason Wibley pitched the final 2.3 innings in relief. He allowed three hits and one earned run. He struck out three and walked one. Wibley drew two walks and scored a run.
Second baseman Thad Smith singled and scored two runs. Colt Archer singled home one run.
Xavier Smith and Logan Fleece both slapped a single. Shortstop Andrew Allen added one RBI.
Wildcat pitcher Dean Trentman also slugged two doubles and scored a run with one RBI. Luke Rode and Isaac Rostorfer each added a double. Rode also singled and collected two RBI.
Ada left nine runners on base, while DJ stranded a dozen baserunners.
Host Ada was trailing Riverdale 3-0 on Monday when rain interrupted play.
The Bulldogs are slated to visit non-league foe Perry (7-4, 5-0 NWCC) on Saturday, May 2.
