MARION __The visiting Ada High School tennis team lost 5-0 to Marion Harding at the Grant Tennis Center on Monday, April 13.
The Bulldog netters fell to 0-2 after the loss.
“It was just our second match, while Marion Harding has played five,” said first-year Ada head coach Shelleigh Alexander. “We have some new partnerships in doubles so it will take a little time to develop chemistry, but I think they are coming together.”
At first singles, Bulldog senior Justin Bowden lost 6-0, 6-0 to MH ace Sebastian Lisreki at first singles. “Their number one player was very good,” said the Ada coach.
Ada junior Brandon Prater fell 6-2, 6-2 at second singles to Daylon Toombs.
Bulldog senior Samuel Crawford lost to Landon Blackford 6-0, 6-0 at third singles.
“Sam has moved up to singles this year, so that is an adjustment after playing doubles for three years,” said Alexander.
At first doubles, the duo of junior Lawson Klingler and freshman Lucy Carter was defeated by Jeffrey Stinson and Reagan Tway 6-0, 6-0.
Ada’s junior duo of Brooklynn Andreason and Jaylin St. Laurent lost at second doubles to Isaac Rice and Matthew Stover by a 6-0, 6-1 score.
Ada has 14 players on its roster, including several seniors. The team includes boys and girls. “I am hoping to build some continuity with the program,” Alexander explained.
The scheduled Bulldog home opener vs. Fostoria last Friday, April 10 was rained out. The match vs. Lima Senior on Wednesday was also called off since the Spartans were not able to field a team.
Ada entertains Bryan on Saturday at home at 10 a.m.
