Charrilyn J. “Sherry” Benjamin, 1947-2026
Charrilyn J. “Sherry” Benjamin, age 78, of Alger, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Vancrest of Ada, surrounded by her family.
She was born on May 31, 1947, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Grover and Doris “Jan” (Koons) Guyton, Jr. On September 11, 1971, Sherry married James J. Benjamin, and he survives in Alger.
Sherry retired from Ohio Northern University, Ada, where she worked in the Financial Aid Office. She was a member of the Alger First Methodist Church. Sherry was an EMT for the USV EMS.
She is also survived by her two children: Timothy (Susan) Benjamin of St. Marys and Amy (Yousef) Esaleh of Alger; a grandson, Yakob Esaleh; brother, Leonard “Bim” (Sandy) Guyton of Alger; sister-in-law, Kate Benjamin; and a niece and nephews.
Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger, with her son, Pastor Tim Benjamin and Pastor Don Clinger officiating.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alger First Methodist Church, P.O. Box C, Alger, Ohio 45812.
