Patsy Spellman Evans was a teacher
Patsy Spellman Evans, age 90, of Ada, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
She was born on June 4, 1935, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Von and Ruth (Montgomery) Spellman. On December 23, 1955, Patsy married Ronald Evans, and they were married for seventy years; he preceded her in death on February 13, 2026.
Patsy is survived by three of her children: David (Sallie) Evans of West Mansfield, Daniel (Angela) Evans of Ada and Martha (David) Nau of Ada; daughter-in-law, Chris Evans of Whitehouse; eleven grandchildren: Wesley (Melissa Wytko) Evans, Jena (Tyler) Spanyer, Paige (Pedro) Ka’awaloa, Mary (Joe) Culp, Madison Nau, Seth Evans, Hayden Evans, Reece Evans, Maddie Grace Deatherage, Alyssa Nau and Kyleigh Nau; three great grandchildren: Sawyer, Slade and Alice; a brother-in-law, James Evans of Bluffton; and two sisters-in-law, Karen O’Dell of Capital, MT and Sally Evans of Marietta, OH.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Thomas Evans; an infant sister, Nancy Spellman; mother and father-in-law, Donald “Fred” and Mary Evans; brothers-in-law, Robert Evans and Charlie O’Dell; and sister-in-law, Judy Evans.
Patsy attended the First United Methodist Church of Ada and was a member of the Dorcas Circle. She was a preschool teacher and also a Head Start teacher. Patsy also worked as an administrative assistant for Snyder, Alge and Welch Law Office. She loved to read, especially mysteries and Laura Ingalls Wilder. She was a great seamstress and cook. Pasty was the valedictorian of Ada High School class of 1953.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Ada First United Methodist Church.
