Vivian J. Welch worked for Ohio Northern University
Vivian J. Welch, age 87, of Ada, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born on August 10, 1938 in Paintsville, Kentucky to Albert and Flossie (Music) Harmon who preceded her in death.
Vivian retired in 2003 after working for 32 years at Ohio Northern University, Ada, where she worked in the custodial maintenance department. She was a member of the Ada Church of Christ Disciples. She was a graduate of Ada High School Class of 1956. She was a member of the Ada Senior Citizens and the Kings and Queens Senior Singles Club of Lima.
Vivian is survived by two sons: Kel (Louisa Bailey) Welch of Wapakoneta and Kent (Karen) Welch of Wapakoneta; four daughters: Joyce Elaine (Mark McVicar) Daldos of Erie, CO, Kerrie (Steve) Picker of Lima, Jeanne (Bill) Szippl of Ada and Jacqueline (Greg) Plaugher of Lima; eighteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Carol “Sue” Brookman of Wapakoneta and Mildred Game of Goldsboro, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen (Sheila) Harmon; a daughter-in-law, Marianne Welch.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada, with Pastor Jacob Reel officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ada Church of Christ Disciples, 316 South Main Street, Ada, Ohio 45810.
