RAWSON__The Ada High School volleyball team won the seven-team Cory-Rawson Invitational tournament on Saturday, Sept. 26

The Bulldogs began by defeating Holgate, and then edged Lima Temple Christian in the championship match. 

The Bulldog girls improved to 14-2 overall with the wins.

“Winning the Cory Rawson Invite was achieving a huge goal we made in the pre-season,” said first-year Ada head coach Kylie Murphy. “It was really exciting to watch the girls achieve that. Everyone showed up, did their job and it paid off. Téa Griffith was named MVP of the match.”

After getting a bye as top seed, Ada beat Holgate 25-18, 25-17 in the semifinals. 

The Bulldog girls then nipped Temple Christian 25-23, 26-24 to claim the crown.

Jaylin St. Laurent passed out 13 assists, served two aces and came up with nine digs vs. the Pioneers.

Téa Griffith doled out 12 assists, hit seven kills and mustered 10 digs.

Brooklyn Andreasen drilled six kills, dealt a pair of aces and came up with seven digs. 

Dailah Preston drilled a team-high 10 kills. Lucy Carter hustled up 17 digs, smacked a kill, and served one ace.

Jaycee Allen knocked down two kills and made four digs. Alivia Gibson fired one ace and came up with 12 digs. 

Harlyn Lowry came up with five digs, and Haylyn Geiger made one dig.

Ada (3-1 BVC) hosts BVC co-leader Arlington (13-3, 4-0 BVC) Monday, Sept. 28 in a key league battle. Leipsic is also 4-0 in the BVC.
