ADA__The Ada High School boys soccer team defeated visiting Lincolnview 5-0 in a record-setting regular season finale under the lights on Thursday, Oct. 15.
Ada senior Andrew Allen set the program record for career goals at 81 by netting four scores in the victory. He broke the record previously held by Andrew Fetter.
The Bulldogs improved to 9-7-1 overall with the home non-league shutout.
The Lancers dropped to 2-12-1 after the road loss.
“It was a very special night for Ada boys soccer, both on and off the field,” said Ada head coach Aaron Acheson. “Our Pink Out game brought our community together to raise money for Not by Choice. We had a great turnout, and our parents did an outstanding job organizing such a meaningful event.
“The evening included a bake sale, a 50/50 raffle, a drawing for a pink Wilson soccer ball, and a halftime Penalty Kick Challenge where students donated $1 for the opportunity to take a shot on goal against our high school principal, Dr. Lee.
“One of the most meaningful moments of the evening was honoring Evanne Dunlap, the mother of Carter, a sophomore in our soccer program,” he continued. “We presented her with flowers and heard heartfelt words from her husband about her journey overcoming cancer.
“It was a powerful reminder of what this night was truly about - supporting others, recognizing their strength, and coming together as a community for a cause that impacts so many lives,” the coach noted. “I am proud of our parents, players, and everyone who helped make this event so special.
“On the field, we had another memorable moment as Andrew Allen set a new Ada High School career goals record with 81 goals,” he remarked. “Andrew broke the previous record held by my brother, Andrew Fetter. It was a special moment for Andrew, his family and our entire team. Congratulations to Andrew on an incredible accomplishment!”
Bulldog Rhett Ulrey assisted Andrew Allen’s first goal with 36:29 to go in the first half to put Ada on top, 1-0.
Allen then assisted fellow senior Carson Conley's goal with 8:25 to play in the first half to double the lead to 2-0.
Conley returned the favor by assisting Allen’s second goal with 7:07 still remaining in the first half.
Camden McKean assisted Allen’s third goal with 2:03 left before intermission to make it 4-0 at halftime.
With 12:29 to go in the second half, senior Tim Chrissobolis assisted Allen’s fourth goal of the game.
“We will also remember our defense kept a clean sheet,” said Acheson. “I am very proud of how the boys are competing and making it difficult for our opponents to score.
“We are getting to the ball first, winning balls out of the air, and playing with more force and intensity across all lines. These are the kinds of improvements that will make us a tougher team to play against as we move into tournament play.”
Carson Conley scored a goal and had one assist.
