District Governor urges Ada Rotary to make lasting impact

MEDIA RELEASE__"Create lasting impact!" That was Rotary District Governor Katherine Eboch’s message to the Ada Rotary Club on Tuesday. She urged local members to “help make change that can last,” adding that “change is only the beginning; impact is what endures.”

Eboch, who first became involved with Rotary in high school, stressed the deep value of membership. “Rotary changes us through the friendships we make and the service we perform,” she said.

During her visit, Eboch praised the Ada Rotary Club for its active involvement in the community. Local initiatives sponsored by the club include:

  • Providing dictionaries annually to third-grade students at Ada, Hardin Northern, and Upper Scioto Valley schools.
  • Providing scholarships to area high school graduates.
  • Hosting foreign exchange students, including high schoolers from Turkey, France, and Austria over the past several years.
  • Promoting World Polio Day by distributing “purple doughnuts” through area businesses and organizations. Rotary’s “purple” initiatives symbolize the global fight to eradicate polio, inspired by the purple dye used to mark the pinkies of vaccinated children.

When she is not devoting time to Rotary, Eboch serves as the Vice President of Information Technology at Soles4Souls. The global nonprofit creates opportunities for people by providing shoes and clothing, keeping usable goods in play, and helping individuals move forward in education, work, and life.
