Summary of October 18 Ada Council and Safety Services committee meetings

  • New EMS levy on Nov. 8 ballot

Mayor Dave Retterer convened the Oct. 18 regular meeting of the Ada council at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers, 115 W. Buckeye. All council members were present. Two journalists were in attendance and additional viewers watched via Zoom. A packet for the meeting is available HERE.

BILLS PAID
Bills were paid by unanimous vote. The Claims Register is listed on pages 8-12 of the council packet.

RESOLUTIONS
A second reading was made and approved unanimously for “An Ordinance Approving the Recodification, Editing and Inclusion of Certain Ordinances as Parts of the Various Component Codes of the Codified Ordinances of Ada, OH,” an annual procedure.

OLD BUSINESS
Council member Sheila Coressel reported on the Monday, October 17 meeting of the Ada-Liberty ambulance board. She shared information sheets regarding a proposed EMS levy that will be on the November 8 general election ballot.

Findlay Post investigating fatal crash on Interstate 75

I-75 closed for over 9 hours

FINDLAY --The Findlay Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a  fatal crash on Interstate 75 northbound, north of state Route 235 in Eagle Township. The crash occurred at approximately 2:44 a.m. in the traffic backup from a vehicle fire. 

Veterans' Breakfast invitation by Ada Schools

The Ada School District  is sponsoring a veterans’  breakfast on Friday, November 11. 

Breakfast will be served from 8:00-9:00 a.m in the school cafeteria. There will be a speaker and brief presentation at 8:30. 

All veterans and their families, as well as active duty service personnel who live, work or worship within the boundaries of the Ada Exempted Village Schools are invited to honor the community with their presence on this day.

ODOT reports NB I-75 closed at 5:00 a.m. beyond SR 235

The Ohio Department of Transportation - Northwest Ohio District 1 reported in Hancock County that Interstate 75 northbound was closed beyond State Route 235 due to a crash involving multiple vehicles.

Robert Waters honored in Eagle Scout ceremony

In early October, Ada Troop 124 held a Court of Honor for Robert (Robby) Waters for attaining the Eagle Badge.

The court was led by Donald Waters, brother of Robby, and presided over by Don Spar and Tom Lehman, Scout Masters.

Fr. Ed Shikina, Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes, 300 E. Highland, told of Robby’s Eagle project, which was a beautification of the grounds and installation of female saint statues at the church.
