Youth Wrestling Club holding sign ups at park building

The Ada Youth Wrestling Club has announced sign ups will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Ada Park Building (located at the front of the park before the football stadium in the brown brick building) on:

  • Thursday, October 20
  • Tuesday, October 25
  • Wednesday, October 26

This will be for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade (ages 5-12 year olds). All experience levels, from beginner to advanced, are welcome to participate.

Frank “Jason” Castle worked for Ada Technologies

Frank “Jason” Castle, age 45, of Harrod, passed away at The Ohio State University-Wexner Medical Center, Columbus on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.

Jason was born in Lima, Ohio on January 14, 1977, to Franklin Castle and Rebecca Nichols Castle. His father survives in Harrod, and his mother survives in Alger. On October 13, 2001, Jason married Chasity R. Arnett and she survives in Harrod. Also surviving is his son, Frank Jayvin Castle of Harrod. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nikencie Ann Castle.

Trylbia Prater owned and operated Ada Hair Care

Trylbia Castle Prater, of Ada, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022. 

She was born in Magoffin County, Kentucky in March of 1928.  In December 1945, Trylbia married Henry C. Prater and he preceded her in death in 1990. 

Trylbia graduated from the Beauty Academy in Lima and ran her own beauty salon in Ada, the Ada Hair Care Center, for thirty-five years.  She was a member of the Ada Church of Christ.  She had a longtime companion, Bill Ludwig.

AHS boys soccer nipped by Knights in sectional semis

VAN BUREN–The visiting Ada High School boys soccer team was ousted in a 2-1 barnburner at Van Buren in Div. III sectional first round tournament play Wednesday evening, October 19.

The Bulldogs finish their season 7-7-4 with the close defeat. 

The Black Knights improve to 8-5-4 with the victory, and advance to the sectional finals. 

Ada senior forward Carter Conley scored the Bulldog goal on a penalty kick.

Ada keeper Colton Long made six saves in goal.

The Bulldogs and Black Knights previously played to a 1-1 tie at VB October 6.

Oct. 21 Star Party to view meteors, planets

The public is invited to drop by the Ohio Northern University Observatory, 800 W. Lincoln Ave., between 8:00-10:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, for the third public astronomy event at ONU Observatory for Fall 2022.

This event is scheduled to coincide with the peak of the Orionid Meteor Shower.  This is a popular annual meteor shower that emanates from the constellation Orion.
