60s Survivors Band plays at VFW on July 16

From 7:00-10:00 p.m.on Saturday, July 16, The '60s Survivors Band will perform at the Ream-McElroy VFW Post 9381, located at 2147 OH-235.

There is a $5.00 cover charge for non-members. The band will play outside on the patio, if the weather cooperates.

Ada Historical Society meets July 20 and August 17

The Ada Historical Society has scheduled the following meetings for July and August at the Ada Public Library, 320 N. Main St.:

- Wednesday, July 20 at 7:00 p.m.

- Wednsday, August 17 at 7:00 p.m.

The board will meet in advance of these meetings, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

July 14 Alzheimers education event in Lima

Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body, an education program presented by the Alzheimer’s Association® including tips from the latest research, will be held:

  • 5:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 14
  • 3400 W. Elm St., Lima - Senior Citizens Services

Registration is requested at 419-419-5858.

Research includes the areas of diet and nutrition, cognitive activity and social engagement, and use of hands-on tools.

AHS soccer teams play July 13 at War Memorial Stadium

The Ada Soccer Association has announced that the Ada High School varsity soccer teams will play at War Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, July 13.

This is a free event that is open to the public.

The boys team will play Miller City at 6:00 p.m. and the girls team will play  Ft. Jennings beginning between 7:00-7:30 p.m.

These are Hogg Creek summer league games (not full rosters).

Ada's Aug. 27 Punt, Pass and Kick one of 41 U.S. competitions

The August 27 Punt, Pass and Kick competition hosted by the Ada Area Chamber of Commers as part of the Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival is one of 41 competitions sanctioned by PPKUSA

  • 11:30 a.m. - Registration opens
  • 1:00 p.m. - Competition begins

The cost to participate? The competition is free and open to children ages 6-15. Participants compete in punt, pass and kick skills in the following age groups:

A chance to win tickets to the Shoe

Ada Kiwanis leaders Joe Ferguson and Tom Kier sell raffle tickets for a chance to win a pair of season tickets to OSU football games. Proceeds from the $5 ticket sales go to support children's programs.
