Girl Scout cookie sales begin February 18

Ada Girl Scouts have received their cookie delivery. Nearly 20,000 boxes were delivered to Hardin County troops for distribution to customers who pre-ordered and for upcoming booths.

Girl Scout cookie booth sales will begin this weekend in Ada, February 18-20. Local scouts will be selling all your favorite cookies at:

Johnathan Shrader to perform with U-F band

Johnathan Shrader of Ada will perform in the University of Findlay Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble concert, "In Memory," on Feb. 24, 2022, at 7:30 p.m.

Originally prompted by a 2021 shooting in Collierville, TN, which resulted in the death of the mother of Wes King, UF director of bands, the theme of the concert revolves around loss and serves as a tribute to those who have been impacted by a recent loss, particularly in light of the COVID pandemic.

The performance will be held at the Marathon Center for Performing Arts in Findlay, Ohio, and tickets are not required for the event.

Chamber luncheon recognizes contributions to community

Business of the Year, Chris Burns-DiBiasio award, director recognition

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce annual luncheon on February 16 spotlighted established and new members of the business community. Chamber president Becky Neville emceed the event and outgoing director Deb Curlis handed over the reins to new director Lindsay Walden.

 

Business Of The Year: Jalapenos Mexican Grill

The chamber recognized Jalapenos Mexican Grill (109 S Main, 419-634-0440) as the Business of the Year for 2021. Chamber members were invited to nominate a local business and the chamber board of directors selected the winning entry based on supporting materials.

2022 Hardin County Citizens Sheriff's Academy accepting applications

Sheriff Keith Everhart has announced that applications are now being accepted for the 2022 Hardin County Citizens Sheriff's Academy to be conducted consecutive Tuesdays beginning March 8 and running through April 19. The sessions are planned for 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Sheriff's Office, 1025 S. Main St., Kenton.

The Academy will provide participants with a working knowledge of the Sheriff's Office. It explains the various aspects of the Sheriff's responsibilities using classroom and hands-on participation to provide an overview of the talents, skill, diversity, and quality of the Sheriff's Office. Opportunity is provided for questions and expression of concerns and ideas. 

Board of Education Meeting on February 17

Ada Exempted Village Schools Board of Education will hold its February meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2022. 

Meetings are held in the board room at 725 West North Avenue. 

Board Members are Dr. Amy Mullins, President, Matt Gossman, Vice President , Ronald Fleming. Steve Ramey andTed Griffith.
