Bulldog boys fall to late Temple comeback

Lima Temple Christian's fourth quarter rally dealt the visiting Ada High School boys basketball team a tough 51-44 defeat in non-conference play Saturday night, February 12 . 

Ada led 12-9 after the first quarter, and maintained a 27-25 edge at intermission.

The Bulldogs edged ahead by four points 36-32 after the third period. 

But LTC came up with a big 19-8 fourth quarter to pull off the comeback win. 

Ada led by one point with about two minutes left in the final stanza. Temple beat a Bulldog trap near halfcourt down the sideline, and the hosts converted a traditional three-point play to seize the lead for good.

Cold 2nd half for Bulldog boys at Bearcats

Visiting in Spencerville, the Ada High School boys basketball team led early and was within striking distance of Spencerville at the half, but then went ice cold and lost 71-43 in a Northwest Conference bout Friday night, February 11.

Upset-minded Ada led 18-12 after the first quarter, but a 21-11 second stanza gave the Bearcats a 33-29 halftime edge.

The Bearcats broke the game open with a 38-14 second half. 

The hosts won the third period 20-1 to take control, then closed with an 18-13 final stanza.

Ada went almost 10 minutes to start the second half without making a basket. Spencerville outscored the Bulldogs 41-12 over the middle quarters.

Conservation Tillage & Technology Conference March 8-9 In Ada

The Conservation Tillage & Technology Conference (CTTC) plans to be in- person March 8-9 at Ohio Northern University in Ada after being virtual this past year. The event is an opportunity to connect with farmers and CCAs, experience new ideas, and increase net income. Historically over 800 individuals attend each day of the two-day conference, making it the largest agricultural meeting in northwest Ohio. Currently, ONU requires that everyone wear a mask while inside a building.

Ada girls lose to Spencerville in home finale

In their February 10 home game, the Ada High School girls basketball team started slowly and lost to Spencerville 55-32. This was their Northwest Conference and home season finale. The Lady Bulldogs finished the regular season 8-14 and 0-8 in the NWC after having their three-game win streak snapped. 

The Lady Bearcats improved to 13-8 with the win, and finished 5-3 in the NWC to take fourth in the nine-team league. 

Delphos Jefferson won the league title outright by two games at 8-0. Columbus Grove and Crestview tied for second place at 6-2.

AAA3 seeks new members of governing boards

The Area Agency on Aging 3 is recruiting new members for their Advisory Council and Board of Directors. Potential members must reside in the Area Agency on Aging 3’s service area, which includes Allen, Auglaize, Hancock, Hardin, Mercer, Putnam, and Van Wert Counties. Minority and older individuals living in rural areas are encouraged to apply for a member position. There are several positions available for both the Advisory Council and Board of Directors.
