ODOT urges caution in face of winter storm Landon

Avoid unnecessary trips Wednesday-Friday

The Ohio Department of Transportation is preparing for a major winter storm and urging Ohioans to avoid unnecessary trips Wednesday through Friday, February 2-4.

In northern Ohio, crews are preparing for significant amounts of snow. Some forecasts are calling for over a foot of snow with blowing and drifting conditions due to high winds.

ODOT Director Jack Marchbanks warns, “Even with our crews out in full force, roads will likely be snow and ice-covered, and it will take much longer to travel. Once the storm moves out, our crews will be able to make progress toward getting traffic moving at regular speed."

Feisty Ada girls succumb late to Leipsic

By Cort Reynolds

Playing on their home court, the Ada High School girls basketball team competed well but lost 45-36 to Leipsic in a hard-fought NWC battle Monday night, January 31.

The game was moved up from Thursday due to an impending snowstorm.

The Lady Bulldogs trimmed a 12-point deficit in half at 35-29 heading to the fourth quarter. Neither team scored during the first three-plus minutes of the final stanza.

Junior Leipsic guard Whitney Langhals then took off with a long defensive rebound and scored a key fast break layup with 4:49 remaining. The basket broke the ice and sparked a decisive 10-0 run that extended their lead to 45-29.
