Caromel Homan was former owner of C&H Dairy Queen, Alger

Caromel Homan, 84, died on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at 4:35 a.m. at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.

She was born on Nov. 26, 1929 in Breathitt County, Ky., to Corbett and Mary "Maggie" (Higgins) Clemons and they preceded her in death. She first married Jay Conley and he died in October of 1956. She then married on Dec. 22, 1959, Dr. John Homan and he died in November of 1982.

Caromel formerly worked at RBM Manufacturing of Kenton and Kmart of Kenton. She was the owner of the C&H Dairy Queen of Alger. She was a nutritionist and went to school for Physical Therapy. Caromel also worked as her husband's receptionist at the Dr. John Homan Chiropractic Office in Ada and Kenton. She attended the Victory Chapel of Praise Church, rural Alger. She attended McGuffey High School. Charter member and life time member of the Ada VFW Post #9381 Women's Auxiliary. She was a Blue Star Mother for veterans.

Surviving are two sons: Allen Conley of Ada and John (Brandy) Homan, II of Reynolds, Ind.; four daughters: Rosemary Powell of Ada, Janet Harris of Ada, Eleanor Estes of Reynolds, Ind., and Shelly (Bill) Baughman of Belle Center; 27 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; two sisters: Edna Judy of Mt. Cory and Opal Stacey of Stanton, Ky.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Conley; two grandsons: Mark Conley and Adam Harris; five brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Pastor David Trusty officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.

Friends may call 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, and until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
