Main Street today and - let's turn back the clock 100 years or more
Here's another Ada "past and present" scene. Imagine you are standing on Main Street at the intersection near the First United Methodist Church facing south.
Our scenes are from today and, we're guessing circa 1910. We base this on the Model T Ford parked near the horse and buggy on the west side of the street and the manner in which women are dressed on the east side of the street.

The 2014 photo was taken by Bailey Bowers. She also combined the new photo with the old colorized post card.
There are several things that worth pointing out in the 1910 photo. For example:
• The wires on Main Street - are they phone lines, electric lines, or both?
• There are more horse and wagons and buggies on the street than there are automobiles
• The street is bricked and is narrower north of the intersection
• Notice the buildings still exist and those that don't exist today
• Notice what is an apparent street light hanging above the intersection
One question:
• When was the fire escape added on the west side building?
