Men's tennis ends season 6-3

LIMA — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team wrapped up its regular season with a 6-3 loss to Capital on Sunday afternoon indoors at the Westwood Tennis & Fitness Center.

The Polar Bears fall to 11-10 overall and are 3-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Crusaders improve to 8-15, 4-4.

ONU will be the No. 6 seed in next week's OAC Tournament and will play at third-seeded Baldwin Wallace on Tuesday.

The semifinals and finals are slated for Friday and Saturday at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.

Ada's Mackenzie Wills wins 2 shutout victories 

LIMA — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team swept Capital 9-0 in its its regular season finale on Sunday afternoon indoors at the Westwood Tennis & Fitness Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 20-4 overall and are 7-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the Crusaders end their season 2-12, 0-8.

ONU will be the No. 2 seed in next week's OAC Tournament and will host sixth-seeded Marietta on Tuesday at 4:30 pm.

The semifinals and finals are slated for Friday and Saturday at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.

Freshmen Mackenzie Wills (Ada) and Katherine Curry (Oxford/Talawanda) accounted for three shutout victories in the match.

Wills won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, Curry won in an 8-0 proset at No. 5 singles and the pair combined to win 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Freshman Jordan Dodson (Worthington) also posted an 8-0 victory at No. 6 singles.

Ohio Northern swept the doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead heading into singles.

Seniors Brittany Toney (Greenwood, Ind.) and Christina Corbean (Dayton/Oakwood) won 8-1 at No. 1 doubled and freshmen Ola Latala (Grosse Ile, Mich.) and Kaleigh Cummins (Springfield/Northeastern) won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Latala won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1, Corbean won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 and Cummins won 8-2 at No. 3.

The match was originally scheduled for Saturday at Capital, but was postponed due to rain.
