The Village of Ada has been named 9th Safest City in Ohio by HomeSnacks.net.

Ada Police Chief Michael Harnishfeger credits the high ranking on the excellent relationship between the Ada community and the police department.
In 2001 the Ada Police Department invented and implement Project S.A.F.E.R., Seeking Aid From Every Resident. The goal of S.A.F.E.R. is to partner with all of our residents in making Ada a safer community which has proven very effective.
Chief Harnishfeger congratulates all of the residents of Ada in making Ada a consistently safe place to live.

“While there are surveys and public polls on what cities in a state are the safest, we didn't want to rely on speculation and opinion. Instead, we looked at the hard numbers from the FBI's most recent report of crime (Sept 2017). Specifically, we analyzed the FBI's Uniform Crime Report which summarizes the number of property crimes and violent crimes in each city per year. We used two criteria:
Violent crimes per capita (murders, assaults, rapes, armed robberies)
Property crimes per capita (thefts, burglaries, motor vehicle thefts)
For example, there were a total of 33 crimes committed in Pepper Pike which had a reported population of 6,247. That means the number of crimes per capita is 0.00528 which translates into a 1 in 189 chance of being the victim of a crime.
We only looked at cities that have populations of more than 5,000 people reported to the FBI in 2016. This left us with a total of 198 places in Ohio to rank.
We ranked each place for each criteria from 1 to 198 where 1 in any particular category is the safest.
Next, we averaged each places two criteria to create a Safety Index. We crowned the place with the lowest overall Safety Score "The Safest Place In Ohio".
The safest city, based on population, is Pepper Pike. The most dangerous? Springfield, where residents had a 1 in 13 chance of being the victim of a crime.”
In 2017 Ada was named the 16th Safest City in Ohio by the National Council for Home Safety and Security, and according to areavibes.com, “violent crime in Ada, OH is 94% lower than the average rate of crime in Ohio and 96% lower than the rest of the nation. Similarly, crime involving property stands 75% lower than the remainder of the state of Ohio and 73% lower than the nation's average.”
