ONU ends baseball with winning season, 4th in a row

MARIETTA — The Ohio Northern baseball team wrapped up its 2017 season with close 2-1 and 4-2 losses at Marietta on Saturday afternoon at Don Schaly Stadium.

The Polar Bears end their campaign 21-19 overall and 7-11 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Pioneers improve to 21-15, 14-4.

Northern has now posted four consecutive winning seasons.

Women's tennis falls in OAC finals, ends season at 22-5

MASON — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team fell to John Carroll 5-1 in the finals of the 2017 Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Saturday afternoon at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.

The second-seeded Polar Bears end their season with a 22-5 record.

The top-seeded Blue Streaks (16-9) earn the league's automatic bid into the NCAA III Tournament/end their season at 115-10.

Plant sale at fairgrounds Saturday, May 13

The Master Gardeners of Hardin County will host its 14th annual plant sale from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, May 13, at the Fairground’s Arts and Crafts building. Joining the sale will be the Men’s Garden Club, Hardin County Herb Society, Deep Roots Garden Club, and Dailey's Daylilies. 

A large selection of perennials and annuals will be available for the homeowner to use to beautify the landscaping around their property.  Plants available to choose from include flowers, bedding plants, roses, herbs, trees, and various other potted plants.  

Liberty Belles and Boys meeting held

Liberty Belles and Boys held their fourth meeting for the 2017 season on Tuesday, May 2.  We learned how to properly make a motion at a 4-H meeting. 

We also had some people who did their presentations which were Safety Officer, Kylie Nash, shared with the club the steps to take in order to be safe in the sun and around a pool. 

Demonstrations were given by Jack Baumgartner, Drew Long, Colton Long, Colin Nash, Kylie Nash, Molly Sheets and Jackson Brown they covered how to play soccer and baseball, how to take care of a pet duck and how to make a marionette.  

At the end of the meeting, we had an amazing snack which was cookies and juice. 

It's a hit!

First graders put on quite a show Thursday evening in the Ada Schools auditorium. The program titled "It's a Hit" was a hit for parents, grandparents, siblings and other assorted relatives and friends who filled the venue.  The program was video taped by countless IPhones. (Monty Siekerman photo)

Amelia is officially in remission

Chemotheraphy is discontinued

Amelia Griffin, Ada’s young super hero, received tremendous news this week: As a result of a PPET scan on Monday, her biopsy results negative. Amelia is officially in remission.

This news was reported by her parents on Team Amanda Facebook. Here’s the Facebook report:

They discontinued her chemo!

Hopefully, she will be going back on the DFMO clinical trial.
