Ada police hiring

The Ada Police Department is accepting applications for the position of a 30-hour, part-time police officer. 

Those interested may send a resume to 115 W. Buckeye or pick up an application at the police department Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

ONU students rate high in learning

ADA -- According to The College Student Report 2016, Ohio Northern University students continue to pursue high-impact learning opportunities at a higher rate than most college students. The report, produced by National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), details responses from more than 300,000 first-year and senior students attending 512 U.S. universities. The survey was conducted in spring 2016.

ONU continues to outpace similar universities while besting national averages by 20 points or more in several relevant areas.

Red-hot Miller leads AE rally past Ada

HARROD - Mustang senior Spencer Miller scored 26 of his 43 points in the second half to lead host Allen East to a second half comeback win over local rival Ada 72-65 in a Northwest Conference boys basketball shootout Friday night.

The Bulldogs fell to 3-12 and 0-5 in the NWC with the tough loss, while the Mustangs improved to 8-6 and 1-3 in the NWC with their first league victory.

Ada led 57-48 early in the fourth period when Miller led a game-changing 22-2 spurt. Mustang senior Caleb Smelcer reeled off eight points in a row to give AE its first lead since early in the game at 58-57 with 4:35 remaining.

It didn't just happen. It took planning, coordination and lots of volunteers to step forward.

The food packets go to the hungry: 1,000 meals to ReStore in Ada, 6,000 meals to the West Ohio Food Bank and the rest to the African nation of Lesotho.
