Good weather brings out a throng of Halloweeners

"It was a cold and windy night." That's how a lot of scary stories begin. But in Ada on Monday night there were lots of ghouls and goblins seen about the downtown on a "pleasant and beautiful night."

The good weather brought out a throng of Halloweeners, who registered in the parking lot behind the city building, marched to the depot, and heard the results of the costume contest.

There were 187 contest participants, about 350 to 400 people (and two dogs) altogether at the event.

Bulldogs football team now ranked 6th in Region 28

Ada High School's football team dropped to 6th place in Region 28, Division VII computer rankings this week.

Betty Reed previously worked at Triplett Corp., Bluffton

Betty J. Reed, 89, died on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, at 6:26 a.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

She was born on Aug. 14, 1927, in Kinniconick, Ky., to Ernest and Dorothy (Pell) Rhoden who preceded her in death. Betty married Elvin Reed and he preceded her in death in 1986.

Betty formerly worked for Triplett Corp. of Bluffton, Westinghouse of Lima and prior to her retirement she worked at the Marysville Correctional Facility. Betty was a homemaker. She was a USO volunteer and a member of the Kenton Moose Lodge #428 Ladies Auxiliary.

Amy Eddings guest speaker at Lima Rotary on Oct. 31

Amy Eddings, reporter for The Lima News and SALT, formerly of NPR, is the speaker at the Lima Rotary Club on Monday, Oct. 31.

The Lima Rotary Club meets at noon in the North Hall of the Veterans Memorial Civic & Convention Center. The speaker usually begins around 12:30 p.m.

Eddings and her husband are winners of the 2016 Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs business plan competition. They own Easter House Bed and Breakfast, Ada.

The ONU family gathered on Saturday

50 organizations in all shared the services and projects

Fifty ONU organizations - professional social, service, and clubs - had tables in the activity tent at ONU's homecoming.

Students were on hand to welcome alumni and explain the purpose of the groups.
• Medicinal Herbs Club - Garrett Duktis
• Presidents' Club and Alumni Office - Molly Zimmerman, handed out free frisbees.
• Association of Future Forensic Professionals - Sam Schussheim
• Fencing Club -Jeremy Martin and Monica Pannhof.

About 1,000 alumni, students, and employees were served lunch at the Sports Center.

LuLaRoe fundraiser on Saturday for ONU service dogs

10 to 2 at Community Health Professionals

LuLaRoe will have a fundraiser for the nine service dogs, which are in training at Ohio Northern this semester.

Several consultants will be on hand to sell LuLaRoe clothing. A portion of the profits will go to Polar Paws.

In addition, Polar Paws will have some merchandise available for sale, such as bandanas for dogs.

The event will take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Community Health Professionals, 1200 S. Main.

LuLaRoe sells dresses, skirts, tops and the very popular leggings. Children and adult sizes will be available from several consultants. Admission is free.
