Ada mayor and police chief make special presentation to 5 Celina band members

Recognizing their quick action as a result of a Pitbull attack this summer

Ada police chief and mayor made a special trip to Celina on Saturday night.

They made a presentation to five Celina band members prior to Celina High School's football game as a result of quick thinking made by the five Celina students during a summer band camp practice at ONU.

Michael Harnishfeger, police chief, and David Retterer, Ada mayor, made the presentation on the Celina football field.

Here's announcement that was read at the pre-game:

To: Joshua Hole, Gabriella Posada, Conner Ewing, Daycie Hatfield and Marie Zehringer.

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Hello, Bill and Gretchen!

Bill and Gretchen Robinson enjoy the ONU homecoming parade and visiting friends. They now live in Pittsburgh after retiring. Bill is a former village councilman and school board member. He held various administrative positions at ONU during his nearly 50 years with the university (Monty Siekerman photo)

What's homecoming without a parade!

And the ONU parade is a great one to watch

Homecoming at Ohio Northern University.

That means lots of things. Let's focus on one of those: a parade. Let's see, you need a polar bear, bands, cheerleaders, floats and a large crowd.

Saturday in downtown Ada had all those elements. Monty Siekerman captured many of the parade highlights and the Icon shares his photos with viewers.

as Delphos Jefferson blanks Bulldogs

By Dusty Donley
The Ada footballers saw their four-game winning streak come to an end Friday night, as the powerful Delphos Jefferson Wildcats came to town and blanked the Bulldogs, 44-0.

The loss eliminates Ada from NWC title contention and drops the Dogs to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the league.

The Wildcats racked up 38 first half points behind a menacing ground game powered by senior Hunter Binkley, enroute to the 44 point shutout.  DJ has beaten Ada in three straight, the last two by a combined score of 95-7.

The Bulldogs will attempt to start a new win streak this Friday night when they take the show on the road to Allen East.
