Annual Crosstown Championship series Wednesday - it's school staff vs. safety services

It's the Ada school staff versus the Ada EMS, Police and Fire Department - 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 25.

The annual softball rivalry - aka Annual Crosstown Championship - takes place on the Ada softball diamond.

Last year, the EMS Departments came away with the win but, theIcon understands that the Ada School Staff is better prepared this year.

If you plan to attache, please bring a canned good donation for the Ada ReStore for your admission price. There will be concessions available as well.

Truck and tractor pull - hear them roar!

The 8th annual Ada War Memorial truck and tractor pull drew 1,000 people to the competition on Saturday night after being rained out on Friday.

Hear them roar! The trucks and tractors competed in eight classes on the "back 40" of the park.

Hardin County pullers sponsored the event which drew drivers and machines from Ohio and nearby states. The local organizations motto is "Let's turn some dirt."

The pullers will be back for the F&M Picnic for a two-day competition on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 12 and 13.

10 raised beds

Caboose work underway

Work began Friday on improving the looks of the caboose in the Railroad Park. Here, Five C Roofing employees tear off the old roof in preparation of replacing it. Mercy Health/Ada Family Medicine now open -Dr. Hageman, lead physician

Mercy Health/Ada Family Medicine has opened its doors and will have an open house in June at the new facility located in front of Vancrest Nursing Home near the school.

Dr. Jason Hageman, M.D., will be the lead physician. He graduated from Ohio State, University of Toledo Medical School, completed his family medicine residency in Dayton, and received a sports medicine fellowship from the University of Kentucky. 

He has been associated with St. Rita's for the past two years. He will share his time between Ada and St. Rita's.

Sneak preview of Vancrest - official open house is Sunday

Vancrest of Ada had a VIP open house Thursday with a public open house set for 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Here, Mark White, (left), president of the company, meets with Randy Cox, administrator of the local facility.

"Beautiful, spacious, well-planned, an asset to the community," were among the comments made by those who toured the newly-built nursing home which is located across from the school.

Vancrest has 50 rooms for skilled nursing care, 32 rooms for longterm care, and 18 rehabilitation rooms, plus dining areas, a bistro, rehab equipment, offices, and lounges...even one lounge devoted to ONU memorabilia.
