It's O N U from A to Z (not every university can do this)

An alphabetical reference guide to a university located in Ada, Ohio

O N U from A to Z.

Here's a clever way to provide a quick reference guide to Ohio Northern University. Not every university in the U.S. could pull this off. The Icon saw it on the ONU website.

A – Alumni: ONU’s alumni base is 32,000 strong and includes graduates from all 50 states and 63 countries. They provide support and ongoing opportunities for current and future students.

B – Balance: A positive student experience is all about balance. Here, we know the importance of pursuing your passions, whether it be music, art, Greek life, athletics or one of our more than 200 student organizations.

C – Careers: ONU does a great job of preparing students for successful and lucrative careers. Just look at how many of USA Today’s top 25 highest paying careers can be had with an ONU degree.

D – Dining Services: The newly renovated dining hall in McIntosh Center is open seven days a week for all-you-can-eat meals. But that’s not all. Così at Northern features artisan sandwiches, soups and salads along with a signature flatbread baked fresh in an Italian-style hearth oven. WOW Café American Grill and Wingery serves the type of fare college students crave in a relaxed setting, specializing in their award-winning signature sauces and rubs. At Polar Espresso and the Northern Lights Café, students can enjoy Starbucks coffee, bottled beverages and baked goods. The Northern Lights Café also serves frozen all-natural smoothies.

E – Engagement: 96 percent of senior students participate in at least one high-impact practice (HIP): learning communities, service-learning, research with faculty, internship or field experiences, study abroad, and culminating senior experiences. 88 percent of those participated in more than one!

F – Financial aid: More than 90 percent of ONU students receive some sort of financial assistance. Last year, the University awarded $48.5 million in scholarships and aid. Additionally, ONU is proud to offer 453 endowed scholarships.

G – Graduation guarantee: Students across most undergraduate programs will complete their bachelor’s degrees in four years. This is a campus-wide commitment from the University. ONU guarantees that, as a first-time freshman enrolled in a program designed to be completed in four years, you will graduate in four years. If it takes longer than four years (through no fault of your own), there will be no additional tuition cost for completing your degree.

H – Hanyang: Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea, and Ohio Northern have an exchange agreement that includes the Hanyang International Summer School. Each spring semester, ONU promotes the Hanyang summer program through the awarding of the Hanyang Fellowship. Each undergraduate college at ONU (Arts & Sciences, Business, Pharmacy, and Engineering) awards three fellowships each year. The fellowship also provides $750 toward the cost of airfare. The total value of this prestigious fellowship is approximately $7,100.

I – Interdisciplinary studies: The Center for Interdisciplinary Studies houses those interdisciplinary academic programs that transcend the disciplinary boundaries assumed in the divisions created between the four undergraduate colleges and the departments within the College of Arts & Sciences. The center currently houses the programs in public health, medical humanities and environmental sciences.

J – James Lehr Kennedy Engineering Building: The College of Engineering’s new state-of-the-art home will open in fall 2019.

K – Klondike: No other college has a mascot quite like ONU’s polar bear Klondike.
