Women's bball: Looking for third consecutive OAC title

And second consecutive NCAA III tourney birth

The Ohio Northern women's basketball team will look to compete for its third consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season title and second consecutive NCAA III Tournament birth under 16th-year head coach Michele Durand.

The Polar Bears posted a 23-5 record a season ago and won the OAC Regular Season title before advancing to the second round of the NCAA III Tournament.

Northern welcomes back a wealth of talent and experience, as 12 letterwinners return to the 2016-17 squad.

Men's bball: ONU welcomes lots of returning talent

The Ohio Northern men's basketball team welcomes back a good amount of experience and will look to improve in the Ohio Athletic Conference in 2016-17.

The Polar Bears welcome back six players with starting experience and 12 letter winners from the last year's squad that finished 12-14 overall and finished tied for fifth in the OAC with a 9-9 record.

Senior lunch and some great entertainment on Dec. 7

The Ada Schools will hold a luncheon for senior citizens at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, in the gymnasium of the K-12 building.

The 25th annual Christmas luncheon for those 62 years old or more will be followed by a performance of the award-winning Varsity Singers in the auditorium.

Earliest possible opening is fall 2018

The Ada Icon asked some pertinent questions about the proposed College of Engineering Building at ONU. Here are the questions we asked and the responses from their communications office:

• Where will the new Engineering Building be located on campus?
North of Heterick Library and east of the Pharmacy Building, which is an area mostly used for parking at the present time.

Perfect day for it!

North Simon Street received special attention this week as new asphalt was placed on the roadbed. Jim Meyer says, "It's a perfect day for it.  Get it done before weekend."  Weekend weather is expected to be colder with possible snow. (Ken Collins photos)

Laura Ferguson puts leadership into action

She received special recognition at the Nov. 10 Hardin Leadership annual meeting

Each year, the Hardin Leadership Steering Committee takes this opportunity to
highlight someone putting leadership skills into action.

Laura Ferguson from Ada received that special recognition at the Hardin Leadership annual meeting on Nov. 10.

Ferguson is a 2013 Hardin Leadership graduate and was chosen for her dedication and commitment to Hardin Leadership.  She joined the Steering Committee at the beginning of 2016 and was a true asset to this year’s program.
