Spectacular!

Light snow fell as theatre-goers entered the Freed Center on Saturday afternoon, giving a true holiday spirit to a fabulous ONU Holiday Spectacular performance.

A full house of patrons smiled and clapped throughout the 90-minute show.

The four local performances are over, but tickets can be purchased at the Freed Center and Lima Civic Center box offices and at Kewpee Restaurants for the shows in Lima on Friday, Dec. 2, through Sunday, Dec. 4. Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 2; 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 3; and 2 p.m. on Dec. 4.

It's November. And, today it finally became winding, cold and looks pretty much like snow. Ken Collins took these late November photos around Ada.

Helen Dilts owned Helen's Fabrics

Helen R. Dilts, 87, died on Friday, Nov. 18, 2016 at 2:43 p.m. at Vancrest of Ada.

She was born on March 18, 1929, in Leipsic, Ohio to Samuel and Ella (Taylor) McDougle who preceded her in death. On June 22, 1947, Helen married Frank E. Dilts and he died on Oct. 24, 2013.

Helen was a member of the Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God of Alger. She ran Helen's Fabrics out of her home.

Sixteen years ago, as the 2000 presidential election recount in Florida transfixed the nation, the newly elected Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton spoke directly to the likelihood that Al Gore would win the popular vote and still lose the election:

“I believe strongly that in a democracy, we should respect the will of the people,” Mrs. Clinton said, “and to me that means it’s time to do away with the Electoral College and move to the popular election of our president,” the New York Times reported.
