Lady Bulldog swimmers 5th at Holiday Invite

LIMA--The Ada swim team finished 13th in the 29-team Bluffton Holiday Invitational meet Tuesday, December 27, at the Lima YMCA.
Ada sophomore Lily Baumgartner set a holiday meet record by winning the 100 butterfly. She broke the 12-year old meet record by .66. Baumgartner also broke the nine-year old meet record by 1.04 in winning the 100 backstroke amid a pool of 69 swimmers.
Ada senior Carlie Oldfield touched third in the 50 freestyle out of 119 swimmers. She also finished fourth out of 99 swimmers in the 100 free.
The Lady Bulldogs took fifth, while the Ada boys tied for 19th.
Wapakoneta won the boys team title, while Versailles captured the girls title.
Bluffton won the combined boys/girls team championship, with Versailles second. Ada tied for 13th with Van Wert in the overall standings.
“This meet really pushed everyone to do their best,” said first-year Bulldog swim coach Ashley Robey. “I’m proud of all the swimmers and happy with the results.
“Lily broke the meet record in both of her individual events, and we had some best times captured as well,” she continued.
“Kaitlyn Bowden got her best in the 100 fly and Brayden Miller got his best in the 50 free. Jack Baumgartner dropped seven seconds and got his personal best in the 500 free. Sam Crawford also got his personal best in the 50 free,” she added.
