Fifteen minutes with Kyle Francis, Ada math teacher

Meet Kyle Francis, 6th Grade Math teacher, assistant football coach and 7th Grade Boys Basketball coach. This is Francis' first year teaching at Ada; he is also a volunteer firefighter. 

In this Bulldog staff spotlight, we get to know Francis a little bit better, thanks to a Q&A provided by the High School and Middle School office staff.

Q. What is the one thing you cannot resist?
A. Iced down Mountain Dew.

Q. What is your greatest fear?
A. Becoming complacent.

Q. Where is your favorite place to be?
A. On a snowmobile in upper Michigan.

Q. Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?
A. Paradise, Michigan. Backwoods with snow so calm and peaceful.

Q. What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
A. Chicken coop packaging eggs.

Q. What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
A. Firefighter.

Q. Any favorite line from a movie?
A. “No man, you gotta keep going. What am I gonna do quit? That’s not an option. You gotta keep on keepin on. Life’s a garden, dig it and you make it work for you. You never give up man, that’s my philosophy.” Joe Dirt.

Q. Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
A. I’m in the wrong generation. I love '80s hair bands. I should have been a teen then.

Q. If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?
A. Kobe Bryant. Mamba mentality.

Q. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
A. Play an instrument. Guitar/drums.

Q. What are 3 words you’d use to describe Ada Schools?
A. Caring, guiding, team.

Q. If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do? What is the first thing you would buy?
A. Pay off all debt. Buy a vacation home in Florida for my parents/family.

Q. When you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you pass the time?
A. Catch up on sleep or get ahead on the next task at hand.

Q. What is something you learned in the last week?
A. Water movement in regards to fire service.

Q. What’s your favorite indoor/outdoor activity?
A. Friendly competition.

Q. What is the first concert you attended?
A. Florida Georgia Line in Cincinnati.

Q. What music is on your iPhone/Android phone?
A. Motley Crue, Poison, Bailey Zimmerman, Motorhead.

Q. What chore do you absolutely hate doing?
A. Cleaning bathrooms.

Q. If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
Bailey Zimmerman (Singer-songwriter.)

Q. How do you balance your career and family?
A. Working constantly to provide more opportunities and being involved with them more, whenever I can be.

Q. Is there anything else you would like to add?
A. Former business owner.
