Alger Memorial Day parade plans underway

The Alger Memorial Festival Committee announced plans for its  2 p.m., Memorial Day Parade Monday, May 25. 

The Theme for the parade this year is “Never Forget- Forever Honor.” Line up at the old Alger school on Main St at 1 p.m.  

Event planners ask parade participants to stop at the table to sign in so you names can be announced. Please place a readable sign on the fronts of your vehicles if you would like to join the parade. For more more information, call Diane or Phyllis at 419-757-4733, or Bea at 419-757-3891.

Also slated for May 2,  is our Monthly All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast served at the Alger Social Center on Main Street in Alger.  

It's "The Drowsy Chaperone" on Freed Center stage April 16-19

Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts will present “The Drowsy Chaperone” from April 16-18 at 7:30 p.m. There also will be two matinee performances on April 18 and 19 at 2 p.m.

Restore Community Center dance April 22

The Restore Community Center, 210 N. Main St., will hold a senior dance from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, April 22. All are invited to attend.

Amvets fish dinner April 17 in Kenton

The Amvets Post 1994, Kenton, will hold an all-you-can-eat fish dinner Friday, April 17. The dinner is available for a $7 donations. Doors open at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for lunch and 5 to 7 p.m. for dinner. The dinner is at 417 W. Espy St., Kenton.

 

Alger festival committee breakfast April 4

The Alger Memorial Festival Committee will hold a country-style breakfast on Saturday, April 4, from 7-11 a.m. at the Alger Social Center. The menu will include biscuits, sausage gravy, hash-browns, scrambled eggs, fried apples, sausage patties and beverage. Suggested donation is $7 for all you can eat (on premises.) ONU Gospel Ensemble spring concert April 12

The ONU Gospel Ensemble spring concert will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 12, in McIntosh Center. The performance is free and open to the public.

In addition, the Philippian Baptist Church Choir and the Toledo Youth Choir will do separate selections then join the ONU Ensemble for several joint selections. This will be the second year the three groups have performed together.

The Gospel Ensemble was formed 28 years ago, and performs on campus and in area churches to spread the Word of God in song.
