December 1910 The Tri- County Poultry Association was formed on December 1, 1910 at Dr. Montgomery’s office. Elected officers were, president, W.H. Freund; vice president, Dr. Montgomery; and Charles Meyer secretary. Other board members in January 1911 were: C.H. Hilty, C.C. Runser, Geo. Rusher, E.M. Turner and H.W. Bowersmith.

 

Elwanda J Casper 1921 - 2018

Elwanda J. Casper, age 97, died on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 12:08 p.m. at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

          She was born on October 26, 1921 in Ada, Ohio to the late Lloyd and Bessie (Mull) Candler.  On October 27, 1940 Elwanda married Alva E. Casper and he preceded her in death on September 11, 1996.

          Elwanda retired from the Ada Schools where she had worked as a cook.  She was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church of Ada.  She was a former member of the Sugar Grovettes and a member of the TOPPS of Bluffton.

Black Knights out-shoot Lady Bulldogs

ADA - Visiting Van Buren used three big runs to defeat Ada 65-26 in a non-conference girls basketball game Monday evening.

The Bulldogs fell to 1-6 overall with the loss, while the Lady Black Knights improved to 5-4 following the win.

VB raced to a 10-0 lead and later authored runs of 18-2 and 16-0 en route to posting the victory.

"They killed us on the boards," said first-year Ada head coach Morgan Bass. "We struggled to get shot opportunities. But I was proud of our effort."

Ada High School band members and their director entertained residents of Vancrest on Thursday with many Christmas songs. Those who played in the afternoon included (from left) Nathan Hurtig, Isaac Spar, Daniel Nash, Hunter Wells, Jake Colwell, Dr. Jonathan Lischak, Victoria Ross, Lauren Mullins, and Olivia Thomas. Boil water advisory in portions of Ada

In effect until further notice

The Village of Ada has issues a "boil advisory" in effect for some residents of the village. The Icon received the notice at 3:38 p.m. It follows:

A boil advisory is in effect for some residents of Ada.

The order is in effect for Ada residents at:
• Northland Mobile Home Park
• Kingswood Drive
• 500-700 block of North Main Street
• 100-200 blocks of East North Avenue
• Franklin
• Valerie
• 500-700 blocks of North Simon
• 600-700 blocks of North Johnson.

Residents in the village are being advised to boil the water before consumption. The boil water advisory is in effect until further notice.
