Ada boil water advisory lifted

At 9:57 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19, the village of Ada lifted the boil water advisory that affected several sections of the village.

The advisory affected 122 properties in the northeast section of the town. 

A main water line broke at the intersection of State Route 81 and North Johnson Street causing the boil advisory to about one tenth of the properties in town.

Dr. Francis "Frank" Williams 1927 - 2018

Dr. Francis S. “Frank” Williams, age 91, died on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 3:00 a.m. at Vancrest of Ada, OH.

          He was born on February 10, 1927 in Norway, Michigan to W.H. Errol and Florence (Grubb) Williams who preceded him in death.  On August 25, 1951 Frank married Wilhelmina “Miney” Beck and she died on February 11, 2013.

Police clerk's office will merge with water and sewer clerk's office

Change takes place on Dec. 24

The Ada Police Clerk’s office will merge with the Ada Water and Sewer Clerk’s Office as of Monday, Dec. 24, acccording to Michael Harnishfeger, police chief.

This will allow customers the ability to access services from one location in the village offices.

The central/combined clerk’s offices will be located in the current water/sewer office in the Ada Municipal Building with normal business hours of Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

Professor receives $418,000 grant

Ohio Northern University faculty member Phillip Zoladz, Ph.D., has received a $418,620 grant from the National Institute of Mental Health. The three-year grant will allow him to study post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). More than 20 ONU students will assist Zoladz in conducting the research. 

 

The title of his research is “Stress, sex and the generalization of fear.” Zoladz is an associate professor of psychology. The project also includes co-investigator Boyd Rorabaugh, Ph.D., a professor of pharmacology and cell biology.

 

Library board sets 2019 meeting dates

The Ada Public Library board will meet at 9 a.m. on the third Monday of the month in 2019, with one exception. The January meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 14. The meetings are held at the library and are open to the public.
