Children’s auditions slated for ‘The ONU Holiday Spectacular’

Auditions for singers and dancers ages 5 to 12

Children’s auditions will be held for “The ONU Holiday Spectacular” at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9 at the Freed Center. Auditions will be held for singers and dancers ages 5 to 12.

Those auditioning may be asked to sing and should be ready to participate in a dance call (jazz and/or tap shoes). No prepared dance or vocal solos are needed.

The dates for this year’s performance are:

Nov. 15,16 and 17 – Ohio Northern University performances

Nov. 30; Dec 1 and 2 – Lima performances.

 

Orange barrels out at several locations near Ada

Including SR 235 309 and 701

Orange barrels will be out at several locations near Ada—including SR 235, SR 309 and SR 701–while ODOT repairs roads before winter sets in. Here is the list of roadwork in Hardin County slated for next week:

State Route 309 between the Allen County line and the city of Kenton, including its overlap with state Route 235, will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for resurfacing.

State Route 81 between the village of Ada and the village of Patterson will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for pavement repairs.

State Route 701 between state Route 309 and U.S. 68 will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for pavement repairs

No one would disagree with the statement that recycling is important. However, our best intentions do not always result in more being recycled.

Aug. 11 funeral service for Gordon Diller, Bluffton businessman

Was funeral director of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton

Gordon R. Diller, 67, died Aug. 5, 2018, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.  Gordon was born Dec. 6, 1950, in Pandora to the late Roger and Marjorie (Gratz) Diller. On Dec. 21, 1985 he married Jodi Lugibihl Diller who survives.

Gordon graduated from Pandora-Gilboa High School and then served in the U.S. Navy. Gordon attended Bluffton College and graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1977. 

He was a funeral director at Halteman-Fett-Dyer Funeral Home in Lancaster, Ohio following graduation. Gordon then purchased Haas-Diller Funeral Home in Pandora. 

Two golfers honored for scholarship

Ohio Northern men's golfers Zach Goodchild (Pickerington/North) and Nick Anderson (Mason) recently added their names to the annual Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar awards list, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

Goodchild, a statistics/risk management and insurance major, received his second All-America Scholar honor.
