You are invited to an auction

At ONU law college Friday

There will be a silent auction, live auction, and raffle at the law college on Friday, Feb. 16. Since 1994, $140,000 has been raised to assist law students who work in unpaid public interest legal positions during the summer.

Campus and community members are invited to bid and buy raffle tickets at Tilton Law Building. The silent auction runs from 9-12:30, lunch from 11:30-12:30, live auction begins at 12:30.

Raffle items, which will be drawn throughout the day, have been donated by local restaurants and businesses.

Vince Reichert started the Main Street store in 1952. Fred began working there after graduating from Ohio Northern in 1977. He bought the store from his dad in 1992.

Speedway exec to speak at ONU

Speedway executive David R. Heppner will discuss “Engineering and the Entrepreneurial Spirit” during a talk at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 19 in the Freed Center. The talk, which is part of the Spotts Lecture Series and is free and open to the public.

Heppner, an ONU engineering graduate, is senior vice president of engineering services and corporate support at Speedway LLC.

Heppner graduated from ONU in 1988 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He attended the Wharton School Advanced Management Program in 2013, and he is a registered professional engineer.

Ada rally falls short to Lancers

MIDDLE POINT - Host Lincolnview built a 13-point halftime lead and staved off a determined Ada second half charge to post a 42-35 win in Northwest Conference girls basketball action Thursday night.

 

The Lady Bulldogs fell to 4-15 overall and 0-7 in conference play with the tough loss. Meanwhile, the Lady Lancers improved to 10-11 and 2-5 in the NWC with the victory.

 

Ada trailed 25-12 at intermission, but rallied within 30-29 after the third period after a 17-5 quarter. Yet the Lancers pulled it out with a 12-6 final stanza showing.

 

"We played a really good second half," said Bulldog head coach Bill Taflinger.

Red Cross responds to fire in McGuffey

The American Red Cross North Central Ohio Chapter responded to a fire on Cottonwood Road in McGuffey on Thursday afternoon, providing help to a family of six.

The Red Cross provided assistance to the family of two adults and four children for immediate needs including temporary lodging, food and clothing as well as comfort kits of personal hygiene items, blankets and stuffed animals for the children.

“We’re deeply saddened for those who were impacted by this fire,” said Todd James, Executive Director, North Central Ohio Chapter.

“As we continue to help them, we urge everyone to take steps to minimize the risk of a fire occurring in their home.”
