April Charles Storer put in a bathtub in his barber shop.

May 29 The cornerstone for the First Methodist Episcopal Church was set with a copy of the church history, a Methodist hymnal, a work by John Wesley, copies of the Bible, and current copied of Ada’s two newspapers, The University Herald and the Ada Record. The estimated cost for the new church was $26,800, which included the organ.

Mary Anne Hubin was co-founder of The Oak and Barn gift shop

Mary Anne Hubin, 85, died on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018 at Vancrest of Ada.

She was born on Sept. 1, 1932, in Madison, Wisconsin, to Eugene and Phyllis (Frye) Hubin who preceded her in death. 

Mary received her teaching degree at Mt. St. Joeseph College. She taught elementary and music courses for a number of years.  She was a co-founder of The Oak and Barn gift shop in Alger. She was active in display designs and purchasing. 

She is survived by a niece, Elaine Hughes of Quakertown Pennsylvania; and a nephew, Stephen Hubin, who lives in the United Kingdom.

Mary was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Hubin.

Jay Bosse was a lifelong farmer

Jay A. Bosse, 61, of rural Orange Township, died at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017, at his home. Jay was born on Nov. 15, 1956, in Bluffton, Ohio, to Ernest W. and Naomi L. (Burkholder) Bosse. 

Jay married Donna J. Daft on June 20, 1981 and she survives. Also surviving are three daughters: Michelle (Justin) Craig of rural Rawson, Brooke (Jason) Bormuth of rural Bluffton, and Kimberly (Isaac) Hughes of Toledo; a brother, Jeffery A. Bosse of Findlay; and seven grandchildren, Trevor Hibbard; Thomas Craig; Jossalyn Craig; Molly Craig; Abram Bormuth; Thaddeus Bormuth and Trinity Hughes.

The Icon discovered this postcard photo of someone in a hot air balloon over Bluffton in 1905.

No other details are available, but this certain was the Wilbur Wright of Bluffton and Ada.
