When do fall high school sports begin practice?

It's all here from the Ohio HIgh School Athletic Association

Summer conditioning programs and 10 days of coaching will conclude this weekend as the first official day of practice for OHSAA fall sports arrives next week. Football practice begins Monday, while all other fall sports may begin practice on Tuesday.
 
Schools are reminded of OHSAA heat regulations and the practice guidelines specific to football contact (please see below).

Two ONU students good at golf, good at studies

Senior Tyler Davis (Liberty Center) and junior Zach Goodchild (Pickerington/North) were named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for 2017 by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Davis is a Pharmacy major and earned the honor for the second time in his career. He is also a two-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference and a two-time All-OAC honoree.

The senior averaged 76.1 strokes per round and ranked second on the team in 2017.

Davis earned All-Conference honors after finishing second at the OAC Championships and firing a school-record 54-hole total of 72-73-73—218.

Blanchard Valley Hospital recognized as a High Performing Hospital in knee replacements

Blanchard Valley Hospital has been recognized by U.S News and World Report as a high performing hospital for knee replacements. Blanchard Valley Hospital also holds high performing ratings in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), colon cancer surgery, heart failure and hip replacement.

“Blanchard Valley Hospital is proud to have earned this distinction and believe it is proof of our commitment to quality, patient-centered care,” said Chris Keller, vice president of clinical services.

VFW supports police dog fund

Which dog collar might fit? Ada Police Department has been collecting money for a new K9 after the untimely death of Jaeger. Here, Ron Risner, commander of Ada VFW Post 9381, meets with Police Chief Michael Harnishfeger to present a check for $250 to help purchase a new K9. The chief thanked the VFW for its donation, which brings total gifts to $1,600 so far. Those wishing to donate may do so at GoFundMe or may bring a check to the police station. Polar Bears picked to finish 3rd in media football poll

Den Paul: "We are pretty excited about where we are this year"

The Ohio Northern football team was selected to finish third in the media poll and fourth in the coaches poll in the Ohio Athletic Conference at the 2017 OAC Football Media Day held at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton.

ONU received 54 points in the coaches poll to finish fourth and 265 points in the media poll to finish third.

Mount Union was tabbed as the preseason favorite by both the media and coaches, collecting 26 first place media votes and seven first place votes from the coaches.

John Carroll was picked to finish second in both the media poll and the coaches poll with 74 points in the coaches poll and 327 points in the media poll.
