Lauck is OAC Player of the Year

Lauck and junior Amy Bullimore(Morrow/Little Miami) both earned First Team All-OAC honors, while sophomore Jenna Dirksen (Beavercreek/Carroll) was named Honorable Mention All-OAC in 2017.

Head coach Michele Durand earned OAC Coach of the Year honors for the third time in her time at the helm for the Polar Bears.

Northern returns to action this weekend when it hosts the first round of the NCAA Div. III Tournament and takes on Lakeland (Wis.) at 7:30 p.m. On Friday at the ONU Sports Center.

Sheriff appeals for help in fighting crime by joining Association

Responding to the increasing number of people wanting to assist law
enforcement officials and build a stronger partnership in the fight against
crime, Sheriff Keith Everhart announced that Hardin County citizens are being
invited to become associate members of the Buckeye State Sheriffs’
Association.

Membership appeals go out in the mail shortly. Individuals choosing to join
the voluntary program can do so for as little as a $20 contribution.
The funding provides important technical resources, training, and
legislative support on key criminal justice issues.

Baseball looks competitive in OAC

The Polar Bears posted their third consecutive winning season as they went 21-16 in 2016 and went 9-9 in the OAC.

Over the last three seasons, Northern has recorded a school-record 79 victories in that time span.

"We really want to compete this season," said head coach Gene Stechschulte. "These guys have been working hard this offseason and we think we can compete at a very high level this season."

The Polar Bears will open the season on Mar. 4 as they compete in the RussMatt Invitational in Auburndale, Fla. from Mar. 4-11.

Ada Kiwanis Club Meeting Notice

The Ada Kiwanis Club will meet Tueday, March 7, at 12 Noon in the Dean's Heritage Room, McIntosh Center, Ohio Northern University.

Kiwanian Jeff Schulman will present the club program.

In like a lion

Students at ONU Child Development Center took advantage of the first day of March by choosing whether to create a lion or lamb. When the Icon stopped by, the lion was most popular animal in the jungle.

Ada chamber website adds new features

Harvest and Herb registration form, calendar of Ada events and photos

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce website has a new look as several features were recently added, according to David Dellifield, chamber board president.

The site now includes:
• Harvest and Herb booth registration can be made online.
• Calendar of Ada upcoming events is added. The information from this calendar comes directly from the Ada Icon’s calendar.
• A photo gallery showing various photos from around the community are also on the site.
