$248,000 street paving project on deck for the spring

Most streets were last paved between 15 and 20 years ago

Here's the list of road improvement projects to be undertaken by Bluffton Paving Company, which won the $248,000 bid:

The day COSi came to Ada

COSi puts the fun into learning, as demonstrated to 400 children in grades K-5 at Ada Schools on Thursday.  The outdoors came inside during the Center of Science and Industry interactive program about ecology.

Here, students raise their hands knowing the answer to the question asked by the instructor.

Exploring Ecology is one of six COSI outreach programs. The assembly in Ada taught about ecosystems, tree rings, and animal adaptations.

Men's basketball: Second straight "W" for ONU

Nate Burger hits 23 to lead 'Bears

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's basketball won its second straight contest as it defeated Wilmington 83-69 Wednesday evening at Performance Arena.

The Polar Bears move to .500 and improve to 3-3 overall and remain undefeated (2-0) in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Quakers fall to 3-4, 0-2.

Four Polar Bears scored in double figures, led by 23 points from junior Nate Burger (Dayton/Alter).

Burger also grabbed a career and game-high eight rebounds and dished out a game-high five assists.

Women's basketball: ONU 7-0 for the first time ever

As they blow out Wilmington 78-51

The No. 19-ranked Ohio Northern women's basketball team improved to 7-0 for the first time in school history as it defeated Wilmington 78-51 Wednesday evening at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears improve to a perfect 2-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Quakers fall to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the OAC.

Senior Britt Lauck (Lima/Shawnee) and sophomore Jenna Dirksen (Beavercreek/Carroll) scored 19 and 18 points, respectively, to lead the Polar Bears offensively.

Dirksen eclipsed her previous career-high of 11 points during the contest.

Ada school music department's Christmas concert Monday

Eight groups will perform

The Ada HS music department will present its Christmas concert at 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 12, in the school auditorium.

Performing will be Ada Varsity Singers, High School Choir, Jr. High Choir,  6th Grade Choir, High School Concert Band,  Jr. High Band, and 5th and 6th Grade Bands.
