Volleyball team 3rd of 8 at Minster tourney; BHS beats soccer girls

ADA - The host Ada girls soccer team lost to Bluffton 3-0 in a Northwest Conference match Saturday morning.

The Lady Bulldogs fell to 3-7-1 overall and 2-2 in the NWC with the defeat.

Bluffton tallied all three of its goals in the first half. Sarah Thiesen netted two scores and Abbie Parkins added one goal.

The Pirates out-shot Ada, 16-4. Lady Bulldog keeper Rielyn Castle made 13 saves in goal.

The Bulldog girls visit Cory-Rawson September 28.

Ada spikers 3rd at Minster Invite

MINSTER - The Ada volleyball team finished a solid third at the eight-team Minster Invitational Saturday.

More than 300 people were lined up by 8 a.m.

They come from all around for the bargains at the Wilson garage sale.

More than 300 people were in line at 8 a.m. on Saturday, waiting in the parking lot of the football factory so they could be among the first to go through bin after bin of sports equipment.

Some buy for their grandkids' birthdays or Christmas, others to resell on the internet for a tidy profit. Some actually buy Wilson-labeled equipment to play a sport.

Hardin's "after hours" in Ada last Thursday

Several members of the Hardin Chamber & Business Alliance gather in the foyer of Easter House in Ada on Thursday afternoon.

The organization meets regularly for a Business After Hours visit to one of the members businesses.

Kizzie Lawrence 1921 - 2016

Kizzie Lawrence, 95, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at 9:58 p.m. at Lost Creek Care Center, Lima.

She was born on March 30, 1921 in Floyd County, Kentucky, to Ned and Polly (Eldridge) Sparks who preceded her in death. On Oct. 26, 1940 she married Lewis "Tuffy" Lawrence who died on Jan. 28, 1996.

Kizzie retired in 1983 after working for 15 years at Essex Wire Company, Kenton. She was a member of Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God, Alger.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: George and Will Sparks; and eight sisters: Eva Bradley, Hattie Sparks, Ann Marie Sparks, Sallie Sparks, Mary Manns, Amilda Bailey, Dora Jahimuak and Louise Corbin.

Purple and gold Bulldogs rout Red and Grey Bulldogs 41-14

Ada scores 21 points in opening quarter

Fueled by 21 first quarter points, the Ada Bulldogs traveled to Columbus Grove last Friday night and thrashed the Bulldogs 41-14.

BOX SCORE AT BOTTOM OF STORY -

Led by quarterback Seth Conley's 337 yards and 4 touchdowns, Ada's offense scored with relative ease all night. The victory moves the Bulldogs to 3-2 on the season, and 1-1 in the Northwest Conference.
