Girls' soccer: Bulldogs lose tough match to Tiffin Columbian

TIFFIN - Host Tiffin Columbian broke up a scoreless battle with two goals
in the second half to win a girls soccer match 2-0 over Ada Wednesday
evening.

The loss dropped the Lady Bulldog record to 2-4-1.

Jones and Zimmerman scored for TC at 37:72 and 5:35 of the second half.
Ada out-shot TC, 9-4. Bulldog keeper Rielyn Castle made two saves in goal.

Ada (1-0 NWC) plays at league foe Spencerville Saturday morning.

ADA - The Ada girls soccer team blew out visiting Crestview 12-0 in the Northwest Conference opener Tuesday evening at the park.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 2-3-1 overall and 1-0 in the NWC with the lopsided win, while the Lady Knights fell to 0-4 and 0-3 in league play after the loss.     

Ada scored four goals in the first half, then poured it on with eight after intermission.

Makayla Callahan, Katie Butterfield and Latifah Bagais each scored two goals to pace the explosive Bulldog offense. Kaitlyn Long, Caitlyn Stover, Ruth Pfeiffer, Gizem Tanriverdi, Allie Dotson and Hailey Callahan added a goal apiece.

Andy Steingass helps to raise money for ReStore program

Artist group effort will create more than 400 bowls for November fundraiser

Local artist Andy Steingass has been named an adjunct professor at ONU for the first semester. He will teach the ceramic classes of Luke Sheets while Sheets is on sabbatical in Central America.

Steingass is sitting among many bowls ready for firing. More than 400 bowls will need to be made for Artists Against Hunger in November. He, his students, other faculty members, and local residents all make some of the bowls.

Doris Cotsamire taught school in Ada for 27 years

Celebration of life Sunday at First United Methodist Church

Doris M. Cotsamire, 83, died on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016 at 11:50 a.m. at St. Rita's Hospice, Lima.

She was born on June 19, 1933, in Auglaize County, Ohio, to Florenz and Persis (Schultz) Clausing who preceded her in death. Doris and her husband, Harold, married on July 3, 1955, and recently celebrated 61 years of marriage,

Harold survives in Ada.
