1.47 inches of rain in Liberty Township from April 15-30

For the time period of April 15-30, Hardin County Extension rainfall reporters recorded an average of 1.46 inches of rain in Hardin County. 

Phil Epley of Liberty Township reported 1.47 inches of rainfall during this period.

Last year, the average rainfall for the same time period was 1.06 inches.  Rainfall for the April 15-30 time period is 0.55 inches less than the 10-year average rainfall during the same dates.

Cessna Township received 2.40 inches for the April 15-30 time period, the most of any of the township sites. 

Buck Township received 0.66 inches for the April 15-30 time period, the least of any of the township sites. 

Eloise Schick was a 1939 LaFayette-Jackson HS grad

L. Eloise Schick, 94, died May 10, 2016, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.  She was born Jan. 2, 1922 in Allen County, Ohio to the late Chancey J. and Lulu (Doty) Spallinger.

Eloise graduated from LaFayette-Jackson High School in 1939.  On June 17, 1941, she married Harold P. Schick.  They celebrated over 64 years of marriage before his death on May 6, 2006.

Eloise was a hard working housewife who lived the farm life until moving into Bluffton in the early 1990s. 

University law student selected for Boren Fellowship to Kosovo

Joseph Suszczynski, a second-year Ohio Northern University law student in the concurrent JD/LLM program, has been selected for a Boren Fellowship to Kosovo. Boren Fellowships are an initiative of the National Security Education Program; they provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. graduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions that are critical to U.S. interests.

Awaiting its turn to walk across the stage

Primrose and handler Matthew Sutton wait for ONU commencement to begin last Sunday. Sutton is training the collie to be a service animal through 4 Paws for Ability. The 145th annual undergraduate commencement was held at Ohio Northern University for 406 graduating students. Sutton graduated from the Ohio Northern University College of Engineering. 39 Ford Model A cars travel to Ada in June

The Model A’s are coming Ada!

On Thursday, June 23, 39 automobiles – and 80 persons - from the Penn-Ohio Model A Ford Club will spend the day in Ada.

Their visit here is part of the club’s 2016 Back Roads Tour taking place from June 19-24. The cars in the club represent the years 1928 to 1931.

In coordination with the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce, Deb Curlis, chamber president, said that the town is going to throw a party for the visitors.
