Northern's Hannah Irmer receives OAC volleyball honors

Here’s an update on Ohio Northern University volleyball, playing this spring.
Junior Hannah Irmer (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the week of March 16-22.

She had 76 digs, six aces and 15 assists in four road matches last week.

Irmer had a career-high 29 digs in a 5-set victory over Baldwin Wallace on Tuesday after posting 14 digs in the opening match that night.

She then had 17 and 16 digs in two losses at No. 25 Muskingum on Friday night.

FROM ONU WEBSITE - Visit Blue Heron Reserve near Vickery, Ohio, along the Sandusky Bay, and you’ll rapidly realize how dependent plants, animals and humans are to this varied but vulnerable habitat.

On a warm spring day, you may be lucky enough to see an endangered Kirtland warbler, with its striking chartreuse belly, enjoying a stopover on its way from the Bahamas to central Michigan.

If wild lupine emerge, you could encounter another endangered species: the Karner blue butterfly, which, as a caterpillar, only feasts on the leaves of this beautiful plant.

Music Booster fund raiser ends Thursday

Back by popular demand the Ada Music Boosters are kicking off its Good Clean Fundraising Laundry Detergent and Fabric Softener Fundraiser. Proceeds will be used to help fund all Ada music programs. 

The detergent sale features detergent, fabric softener, and dish soap packaged in a 5-gallon bucket with a pump for easy dispensing. These are high-quality private label products not affiliated with big name brands.

According to the Boosters, they are also selling Pod-Packs of detergent (180 count) and diswasher soap (200 count). All products sell for $45. The detergent and fabric softeners are available in a variety of scents. 

Attention Bulldog sports fans

Ada Bulldog sports fans can now promote their favorite student athlete with a yard sign.

Acording to the Ada Athletic Boosters, yard signs and window clings are available for order now until March 3.

All order forms must be accompanied with payment and turned into the Ada elementary or high school office by the 31st.

Who said that girls can't wrestler. No one told Marley Bulerin, Ada seventh grader. She recently placed third in the Ohio Athletic Committee (OAC) girls' state wrestling tournament. Entering the 115 weight class, she participated in the state tourament held March 21 in Youngstown. (Ada Bulldogs Facebook)

ADA - The Ada softball program looks to continue trending upward under second-year head coach Rebecca Dicke behind several experienced returning starters and letter winners.

Coach Dicke is optimistic that the Lady Bulldogs will be improved in 2021. 

"We have real good leadership with five returning seniors," said Dicke. "We have a good group of hard-working girls. We are excited to get back out there and play softball, especially after missing last season."

The team boasts five experienced seniors, two juniors, three sophomores and three freshmen on its 13-player roster.
