Update on who is playing who at ONU this weekend

The Ohio Northern men's and women's basketball teams have had schedule changes for this weekend's games.

Due to COVID-19 protocol issues with the Capital men's basketball team, the Polar Bear men's team will now have a hone-and-home series with Heidelberg.

ONU and HU will play at the ONU Sports Center on Friday at 7 pm and will play at Sieberling Gymnasium on Saturday at 6 pm.

To accommodate the men's home game on Friday, the Ohio Northern women will swap game sites with Capital this weekend, now playing at Capital on Friday at 7 pm and at home at the ONU Sports Center at 6 pm on Saturday.

Ada council takes action on painting water tower

Slight increase in village utility bills this month

Ada council made two legislative emergency actions on Tuesday.

Council passed a resolution to work with Dixon Engineering of Lake Odessa, Michigan, for a 2021 inspection and painting of the village 300,000 gallon water tower. An 18-page document attached to this story spells out the agreement.

Council also passes a resolution with Jones and Henry Engineers, Cincinnati, for the installation of a backup power generator automatic transfer switch involving the village water treatment plant.

Sergeant George Schlub named Ada police officer of the year

Several officers recognized at year end

Ada police Sergeant George Schlub was named Ada police officer of the year for 2020, according to Michael Harnishfeger, police chief. His announcement was made at a recent Ada council meeting.

Samantha Lee of Ada shares this photo with Icon viewers. According to Samantha, ONU students spent the day making a ramp out of snow to snowboard off a room on Union Street. "It was pretty exciting for neighbors to watch," she said.  Watch for more snow photos on the Icon this weekend.

St. Mark Lutheran hosts free community meal Feb. 24

Served drive up/walk up from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

St. Mark Lutheran Church will hold its "Free Community Meal"  Wednesday Feb. 24. The meal will be served at St. Mark, 125 S. Johnson St.

The meal will be served drive up/walk up only and is free to the community.  The menu includes meat loaf, scalloped potatoes, corn, fruit cup and cookie.

The meal runs from 5 to 6:30 pm. Current safety protocols will be observed.

Library board meets Monday

The Ada Public Library board will meet at 9 a.m., Monday, Feb. 22, in the library, 320 N. Main St., according to Rhett Grant, library director.
