Snow bunny

Bluffton and Ada Icons had separate snow photo contests. Here's Bluffton's winning photo. Melina Meza, a senior at Bluffton HS, took this photo. She said that it sits there as a reminder of all the little rabbit footprints that can be seen in the snow around Bluffton. Watch the Icon for more snow submissions this week.

Alice Hothem 1941 - 2021

Alice (Bailey) Hothem, 79, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021, at 6:41 p.m. at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus.

She was born on Nov. 14, 1941, in McGuffey, Ohio, to the late Jarvie and Hazel (Clark) Bailey.  Alice married Howard Keith Hothem and he preceded her in death.

Alice retired from being a home health care provider. She was a member of the Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God in Alger, Ohio since 1991. She was an avid gardener, loved to crochet and read.

Ada's Sumner repeats as NWC honorable mention pick

Allen East freshman Savana Brooks was also named HM all-league

DELPHOS - Ada sophomore guard Courtney Sumner received All-Northwest Conference girls basketball honors from league coaches in voting conducted at their annual selection meeting held recently.

Sumner led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring, steals, assists and three-point goals to earn honorable mention all-league notice.

The Lady Bulldogs finished their regular season 5-14 overall and 1-7 in the NWC. 

Sumner also was named honorable mention all-league last season as a freshman. 

Spencerville senior Emma Leis was selected the 2020-21 NWC Player of the Year in voting by the league coaches.
