This photo is worth more than one thousand words

If a photo is worth one thousand words, this one easily lives up to the reputation of that phrase.

It's the Ada Farmers and Merchants Picnic board of directors. The year is 1953, a centennial year for the Village of Ada. Thus the interesting beards.

Identification of members is on the photo. Who do you recognize?

You won't see this on the street - it's nine different plates

You won't find this plate on the street. It's a combination of nine different license plates that spells "TOMMY TIRE," an Ada business. It's on diplay in the Bluffton office. We see mostly Ohio plates and two states that we can't identify used in this artistic work.

Christmas around the Square craft fair Nov. 12

Start your holiday shopping early this year at the 30th Annual Christmas Around the Square Craft Fair. The Craft Fair will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Hardin County Historic Courthouse in downtown Kenton. 

Sponsored by the Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance, the Craft Fair features three floors filled with arts, crafts, and home party dealers. The Kenton Top 20 will perform holiday music at 9:30 a.m. Homemade food is provided by the Hardin County Homemakers.

Shorts weather in Ada

It's almost November, yet know on seems to be boxing up summer shorts. As of Saturday temperatures were in the 60s. Here's a photo from the ONU Facebook that tells the story about warm October weather.

Alger United Methodists dedicate Community Outreach Center

Congregation will expand its community programming

Alger United Methodist Church held a dedication and blessing of a Community Outreach Center following the Sunday morning worship service.

Here, Pastor Andy Burns, and Melissa Moore, chairperson of the outreach board, stand by the sign that marks the center at North Main and Place Street.

The Neighbor to Neighbor center has been an active place since it first opened in May. For example, More than 100 local families receive free food there each month from the West Ohio Food Bank.

Bulldogs in the playoffs - host Ft. Recovery on Saturday

Ada Bulldog football team is in the playoffs and its first game is in Ada on Saturday night against Ft. Recovery.

There were 716 schools that played varsity football this fall and now 224 are playoff qualifiers.

During the playoffs, Divisions I, II, IV and VI play on Fridays at 7:30 p.m., while Divisions III, V and VII play on Saturdays at 7 p.m.

The top four seeds in each region host regional quarterfinal playoff games. The OHSAA has seven divisions in football, with the largest 72 schools placed in Division I and the remaining schools placed in Divisions II through VII (approximately 108 schools in each division).
