interesting design projects on display Tuesday

The Engineering College will hold its annual Senior Design Showcase at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25 in the McIntosh Center ballroom. The event is free and open to the public.

Engineering student groups will display their projects using posters and prototypes (or video or photos of their project if it is too large for McIntosh). The designs will be judged by industry representatives after the students give a short presentation and answer any questions from the judges.

The event will include 26 projects and 102 students working in teams.

Sunny day

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, engineering student Nick Harper works his IPhone while leaning against a pillar of rocks in the medicinal herb garden near the Pharmacy Building.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Members of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes gather in the Kennedy Garden on Sunday afternoon to plan Tuesday's bonfire. The Kennedy Garden, adjacent to English Chapel, is in honor of the daughter and granddaughter of the school's founder.

Annual mulch sale

The Lions Club annual mulch sale began Saturday. Among those assisting were (from left) Jimmy Wilson, Jeff Gray, and Keith Everhart. Black or brown mulch can be ordered by calling 419-634-5626 or 419-302-5897 for pickup or delivery on Saturdays between now and the end of May. Purchasing mulch from the Lions goes to a good cause since the club has given over $67,000 in profits to local students for scholarships from the sale in the past 16 years. For pickup, the piles of mulch can be found at Bass Trucking, just west of Ada on SR 81. Lions will be there on Saturdays by 8 am.

Redbuds on S Main

Every year several varieties of trees and shrubs out do themselves when they bloom in the spring. Redbud trees are among the winners this year, filling the village with their light purple blooms wherever they are planted. We chose to photograph the Mary Bowden house at Main Street and Lima Avenue because redbuds have grown there for many years and have caught the eyes of passers-by for a very long time. Spring wouldn't be spring in Ada if for some reason they didn't bloom at this house on South Main.

Don't throw in the towel, throw a disc instead

ONU Disc Golf Club held its first tourney Sunday with 15 competitors aiming at 20 holes over a two-hour period to see who was the best. It takes a lot of discs to play, as evident in the pack held by Colin Frank. Each disc serves its own purpose depending on the throw that is needed. Adam Smith is club president.
