Fresh-water shark spotted in Bluffton's Riley Creek

FROM BLUFFTON ICON - An Icon viewer confirmed rumors floating around that fresh-water sharks have, in fact, entered the Riley Creek stream system.

Earlier this week, the Icon obtained this photo sent by Tricia Burkholder from her cell phone with the proof.

"I spotted this on my way home from my mom's house. As we drove across the bridge by Buckeye Lake, we spotted a shark swimming in the Riley Creek," she informed the Icon.

Several unconfirmed sightings of large creatures with fins in the Riley have, up to this point, been poo-pooed.

More "so you think you know Ada" photos

Ben Bowers continues to test our knowledge of Ada.

Here's a section of a plaque located some where within the village. A couple observations: the years 1936-37 are in plain view.

You'll find names of several important Ada people list.

Those include H.J. Sousley, E.B. Cretors, Bessie Stemple, R.L. Runser, J.S Main, R.C. Cole, W.E. Binkley, E.M. Neiswander and Luther Hesser

And, Ada youngesters might have more familiarity with this plaque than adults. With those comments, we'll keep you guessing.

Answer below:

It's the plaque in the Ada Municipal Swimming Pool.

So, you really think you know Ada; name this site

Okay, so you really think you know Ada.

Ben Bowers offers a photo that requires you to put on your thinking cap.

Let's see if you can identify the location of this spot, which is somewhere in town. No hints on this one. You really should be able to figure this one out yourself.

The answer is in the photo at the bottom of this story.

Ben Bowers: This guy needed a trombone, so I made one for him

Note: Ben Bowers, Ada High School student, joins the Icon staff in July. His Icon assignment is to photograph the unusual - and the usual - things he spots in town.

Viewers will find his photos ranging from the, "Why didn't I think of taking that photo!" all the way to, "Where exactly is that in Ada?"

On a recent trip to the Ada Flea Market, Ben picked up this Italian decanter. At some point in its past, the sword must have been misplaced, so Ben sculpted a trombone for him to hold onto.

Bet you didn't know Batman is also an Ohio State Senator - here's proof

Yup, that's a state senator behind that Batman mask, a.k.a. Cliff Hite, who is reading books about superheroes to kids at the Ada Public Library on Monday afternoon.

Sen. Hite is a former teacher and coach, so interacting with children just came naturally.

Here, he gives a fist bump to Daniel Klear while others look on. Thirteen children and several mothers attended the storytime.

Sen. Hite is a Republican from Findlay and has represented this area as senator since 2011.
