Ada's annual auction for Hospice

Over 100 persons attend event in support of Communty Health Professionals

Community Health Professionals annual dinner and auction Thursday evening drew more than 100 people to a gala affair to support CHP the hospice program.

Several thousand dollars are raised annually for the Beacon of Hope, which provides care for patients and families. The lighthouse symbolizes each individual’s life and the hope that hospice brings.

Deb Curlis, CHP fundraising coordinator, gathers donations from businesses for months for a silent auction, live auction, and raffle.

Claudia Crawford, nursing supervisor, described what hospice is.

More I-75 construction updates coming around Findlay

The following impacts to traffic related to the reconstruction and widening of Interstate 75 through Findlay and Hancock County are scheduled to occur in the coming weeks:

Interstate 75 both northbound and southbound from the area of the Blanchard River (mile marker 159) near Findlay High School to county Road 99 (mile marker 161) is restricted to one lane at times through the work zone during nighttime hours only.

Betty E. Winegardner 1934 - 2017

Betty E. Winegardner, 82, died on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 11:14p.m.at Lima Memorial Health System in Lima, Ohio.

            She was born on October 31, 1934 in Kenton, Ohio to Harley and Marie (Shadley) Dunson who preceded her in death. On November 3, 1956 Betty married Donald S. Winegardner Sr, and he died on February 15, 1988.

            Betty was employed at Lima Memorial Hospital as a Housekeeper for 19 years. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in rural Harrod. Betty was a 1952 graduate of McGuffey High School.

            She is survived by her son, Scotty Winegardner Jr. of Harrod.

ONU pharmacy students have free health fair at Greg's Pharmacy

In Bluffton Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Greg's Pharmacy, 126 N. Main St., Bluffton, will hold a free health fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, according to Andrea Williams, manager.

Ohio Northern University pharmacy students from the National Community Pharmacist Association (NCPA) will be at Greg's to provide the following free services:
• Cholesterol screening (please fast for 8 hours)
• Bone density screening (osteoporosis)
• Blood glucose tesing (please fast for 8 hours)
• Blood pressure checks

Liberty Belles & Boys 4-H Club meeting report

Liberty Belles & Boys 4-H Club held their second meeting of the 2017 season on Tuesday, April 4. There were 3 advisors and 28 members in attendance.

The club played a game that encourages members to learn something new about fellow members and follow instructions. The meeting portion included teaching members how to give an excellent demonstration and things to be careful to not do during a demonstration . 

The elected officers were installed and the club learned about the importance of parliamentary procedure. 

The next meeting is Tuesday, April 18, 7:00-8:30 pm at the Ada First Presbyterian Church.
