Ada chamber moves to buy office space

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce has made an offer of $35,000 to purchase property in the village in an effort to secure a permanent office and a site from which to promote area businesses. 

The property is at 110 N. Main St.  The vacant, two-story building most recently housed Raw Ink, a tattoo parlor.  

Chamber president Deb Curlis said the deal won’t close until the offer is accepted and a bank loan is secured. 

The building purchase would be a first for the Chamber, which has been conducting its business out of the Community Health Professionals building south of the village.

The 30th annual Ada Harvest and Herb Festival offers several familiar vendor booths plus some new ones.

The Fest sprawls on Main Street  all the way from First United Methodist Church to Lehr Avenue.

Nice day for Music on Main at noon - brought to you by Buy Ada First

Buy Ada First committee's Music on Main, traditionally a Friday evening event in the Depot Park, moved to noontime on Tuesday. 

Monty Siekerman represented The Icon and provides this story with photos at the bottom of the story.

Music on Main included a joint meeting of two service clubs...Becky Neville, realtor, president of Rotary Club, and John Berg, educator, president of Kiwanis Club.

Weather was perfect, sunny and mild, for the outdoor gathering of the club members, their spouses, and the public.

Get Your Krispy Kreme Doughnuts!!

Enjoy warm and fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts for breakfast at the Harvest andvHerb Festival Saturday, Sept. 19. 

Krispy Kreme doughnuts may be pre-ordered for $6 per dozen from Ada music students prior to Wednesday, Sept. 16.

Orders must be prepaid. Checks may be made payable to the Ada Music Boosters.  Prepaid doughnut orders will be available at the Ada Music Booster booth at the Harvest and Herb Festival. 

Funds raised will support Ada instrumental and vocal music programs.

ReStore wants donations, but please be considerate

ReStore Community Center receives many donations on a daily basis, which the organization appreciates. But the Center has become a dumping ground for some people.

Bags of trash, dirty paper plates, etc. have been received recently.

Even mattresses have been left leaning against the building even though a sign, with large print, clearly states that mattresses are not accepted.

Don't forget Tuesday's Music on Main - at noon!

The Buy Ada First committee will hold a special afternoon Music on Main for Lunch at the Ada Depot Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Music will be provided by WONB 94.9 FM - From the '50s to today.

Jalapenos Mexican Grill will offer an assortment of lunch items, or persons may pack lunch and bring it to the park.

Liberty National Bank will offer free popcorn and water. This event will be held rain or shine.
The Buy Ada First is an Ad-hoc group. Participation is welcome.
