Standing ovation for Ada's favorite drum and bugle corps - The Cadets

At least 1,000 people watched Ada's favorite drum and bugle corps on Sunday as the nationally-recognized artists performed "one more time" here before hitting the competition trail.

The crowd attended in spite of threat of severe storms, roads out due to flooding and road construction bordering the ONU stadium. And the rains came shortly after the performance.

It's Flag Day - where are some facts about the day

Sunday, June 14, is Flag Day. Here are some facts about the day:

South Johnson Street in Ada ... aka "Flag Street"

By Monty Siekerman
U.S. flags adorned 10 homes on South Johnson Street one recent Tuesday.

Although the older, two-story homes on this short stretch of road near the campus have been largely bought up for student housing, the owners of the family homes that remain show their patriotism by flying the flag on a daily basis, not just on Memorial Day, Flag Day, and the Fourth of July.

FLAG PHOTOS ARE IN THE ATTACHMENT AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS STORY.

See the attached to view the other homes with flags on their front porches. Yes, American flags flew from flagpoles and were attached to garages, as well.

Severe thunderstorms headed our way

Here's a weather update from AEP:

Severe thunderstorms containing damaging wind gusts to 60 mph will threaten portions of AEP Ohio and I&M Power this afternoon into early tonight. A hot, humid, and increasingly unstable air mass is in place over the region. An approaching upper-level disturbance and cold front will trigger the storms.

AEP meteorologists have identified two elevated risk areas:
• Northeast Ohio...primarily from western Ohio across the Canton District. A line of thunderstorms should develop and intensify over western Ohio early this afternoon, then track east. Numerous wind gusts to 60 m.p.h. will be the main threat.
